ozzy,
I noticed your listing as a new member and I usually click the profile. Thanks for sharing and welcome to the board!
I'm a microbiologist and no stranger to microscopy, but I'm wondering, what does an environmental microscopist do?
Hmmm....looked for a microscopy smilie and couldn't find one. Who's in charge of that around here?
Steve
Steve,
I work in a environmental lab analyzing building materials and air samples for asbestos concentrations. We also are involved in furnishing mold and pollen counts to allergist from around the country. We use light, polarized light and tem microscopes.

You must have some cool photos that I'd love to see. I've seen scanning EMs of pollen, but never a TEM X-section.
Steve
Steve,
We use the TEM along with EDS for the identification of Asbestos in air samples. I don't have any micrographs of pollen grains by TEM , but I do have a nice picture of my 8-Ball.
