I'm taking the plunge into the world of snowmobiling and was wondering if any of the TCVR members were into the sport as well.
I am a complete rookie (just ask Dean and crew...they've got to be tired of my questions!) so I'm looking for info on trails, groups, events and stuff I don't even know to ask about.
Any advice, information or general smart a$& comments will be appreciated!

Thanks - THINK SNOW!........there's something I've never done before:bounce:

You might try the following;

Scott County sno trails
Jim Rinsem
952-440-9056

This is old info but you may get a line on clubs in Scott Co.
The Shakopee Club is no more. There may be one in Prior Lake yet.

Check out www.mnsnowmobiler.org . You should find some scoop there. They also have thier magazine at most dealerships.

What sled are you getting?

Nine years I lived in Minnesota and the two things that I never did was Snowmobile and Ice Fishing.

Did I miss something with these two sports that mus be fun I guess? Seeing the guys in the shipping department at work come in on Monday with red chapped cheeks because they hit over 100 Mph without face protection just didn't look all that inviting to me. And that guy a few years ago on SuperBowl Sunday sitting on a 5 gallon bucket on Twin Lake looking into that small hole with a stick at -20 also didn't look that appealing to me.

Maybe I should have tried these two sports.

I have been sledding since I was a kid and always had old used and rebuilt sleds and had good riding almost every year untill 2002 when I bought a brand new 800 XCSP. That sled is still like new with the exception of about 1200 miles I put on in two different trips and a little riding around here. Hope the predictions for a snowy winter are correct so I can ride around home because I can't afford to take but one trip this year.

The trip I will be taking will be to Siren WI. I have two buddies who have cabins on upper clam lake. The trails are usually awesome and lodging only costs about a T-bone and a 12-pack. I think it would be fun to show you around a bit if you are interested. Send me a PM or E-mail and we can talk more.

Thanks for the info!

I'll give Jim R. a call and see if there are any Savage/Prior Lake clubs. I've got to believe there are.

Greg - I picked up a Fusion 600, the guys at Warner keep saying "and you think your Hammer is quick" I'm looking forward to my first ride:Horror:

Doug...I'll send you a PM.:action35:

Welcome to the sledding club. It's a different game than biking but you will have alot more thrills/mile. Your welcome to come up here (Buffalo) and do the Wright Co loop anytime. Maybe we can get a group of TCVR sledders together for a sled ride???? Anyone interested???

I used to do a little racing...then broke my back in 1996.(on a 94 XCR Special)
Bought a new one in 98 (600 XC) rode that, albeit much slower than I used to.

The 600 has been started since 2000. I hope that the fogging oil is still good.

The accelleration of a sled is ten times that of any other vehicle - except an F-14 or something of that nature. A sled on tar (where there is no slippage) has a tremendous ammount of g-force...

My wife and I have sleds, 2000 500XCSP 45th Anniv. and 600XCSP. It would be nice if we would get some snow, it's been a long time. Getting together for ride on the sleds would be awesome. If my old beater can make it that long.:)

Here's a few links I frequent.

www.mnsnowmobiler.org (minnesota united snowmobilers association - to protect, preserve and promote the sport of snowmobiling throughout Minnesota. Find clubs in your area, etc.)

www.dnr.state.mn.us/snowmobiling/index.html (great more checking trail conditions and snow cover across the state)

www.dnr.state.mn.us/snowmobiling/maps.html (local maps have more trails & additional info but these are a great start when scoping out a new area to ride)

I went in for a new pair of gloves last weekend and they threw a new sled in the deal. That brings the herd to three - '06 Fusion 600, '02 500 XCSP and '97 Indy 500.
