I know I can find the answer here with all the computer savvy folks.....

I just purchased a Panasonic DMR-ES25 DVD recorder this weekend and have started to transfer all the family VHS tapes onto disc. After producing a few "coasters" because I couldn't get the darn thing to finalize a disc at first..I finally figured that part out and was successful in making a disc that would play in other machines.

The only thing that I don't like is not being able to create chapters on a DVD-R disc. I understand from the instructions that I can create chapters on a RAM disc. Now...the question is......if I create a chaptered RAM DVD, can I then put this disc in my computer's DVD player and copy it to my Plextor PX-708A CD-DVD burner? (both units are in the computer's tower). I use Roxio software for creating discs.

I just don't want to create more "coasters" if I can avoid it.

Thanks,
Jim

Hmm, interesting. I always thought to coasters were some type of fad that will catch on. Just look at the prism of light out of one of those CD's.

I too have made a few that were useless. Buy your coasters at Costco and the pain of finding out what works won't hurt so much. I have not tried this exact procedure that you are doing.

Yeah, the discs do reflect light in interesting ways!

The whole experiment here is to see if a recorded RAM disc can be copied to a DVD-R disc. The problem is that my knowledge base of electronics technology is still hovering around the cassette tape era......!

It should work if you copy the ram disc to the hard drive first and then to the dvd. No guarantee here but I do think it will work.
