Spotted on a software support website. The site was for software engineered by Eastern Europeans. All the support guys have names that are unfamiliar to Western people, so maybe this is excusable.

Support Guy: Have a look at the new GUI interface.

Respondent: I like that. Gui does good work. I have a website...will he work with me?

It stands for Graphical User Interface. Its what we have all worked with since the introduction of the Macintosh and MS Windows. Before that using a computer was all typing text commands.

I guess as a developer I'm too familiar with the jargon and didn't realize its not a household acronym.

How about HMI's? Anybody know what that stands for? Like a GUI but I think a little more fun. I work with them all of the time. Hint: You use them to get your Money from the Bank.

Did not know, but I was aways taught that the smart person does NOT know all the answer but where to find them. :duel:

That being said, one trip to Google gave this.

The term user interface is often used in the context of computer systems and electronic devices. The user interface of a mechanical system, a vehicle or an industrial installation is sometimes referred to as the human-machine interface (HMI).

Ride on, on your HMI as soon as it get warm enough again.
