Coming home yesterday going down the hill from wisc traffic was slowing and like always I used the gears to slow my decent, really sounded clunky when I hit each gear but when I got to 1st she wouldn't go in. I mean like locked up. Scared I left it in second and proceeded over the bridge. Got caught at the light so naturally down shifted to first went right in no problem. As traffic inched to the light the tranny made loud chunck each time I engaged to move forward and disengaged to stop. When I pulled out and tried to get to second she wouldn't budge. I double clutched and it finnaly shifted but was not clean feeling like it usually is. I had trouble all the way home not only with first at stop lights but fifth going up and coming down. Something is definately wrong. Anybody heard of this before.

Sid it sounds like it might be the clutch. Hopefully it is this would be the cheaper of the two.

I haven't heard anything about tranny problems on the newer units.

Thanks too bad Sid. How many miles do you have an the 05?

Did you check the clutch for free play. It tells you how to adjust it in your owners manual. It does sound like a clutch problem.

Sid,

Thought we lost you on the way home due to the rain, I assumed you pulled over to wait it out due to not having a windshield or visor for protection. I hope you didn't feel abandon!

That tranny sounds ugly, maybe I have a chance now?

SmknAl,

I heard that your bike is just not the same as last year. Maybe Sid's the one who will need to keep up with the SmknAl. Even Rufus will be in the dust of the SmknAl scooter. I am so jealous!

Allen I did pull over because of the rain. Didn't wait it out though I wish I would have. Put my bandana on and headed out. Watched you guys pull away and decided to go slower anyway. The tranny didn't start acting up till I was going down the hill into Stillwater. Sounds like they need to pull my baby apart to see whats up. Maybe I should juice it some more while its apart. Save alittle on the 106 stroker. Still pretty expensive. What does everybody think?

If it saves on the labor, why not!

Do you have any word on the reliability of the product? I talked to one guy from Texas at the AVR last year (the Red Hammer) and he was thrilled with it and hadn't had any problems after 5,000 miles.

I'm always up for spending someone else's money, go for the 106 Sid! :devil1: By the way, don't you kind of have a reputation for being hard on transmissions?;)

Sid,

Your Hammer is all ready a fast back color. An upgrade would be awesome! go for it!

Any ideas on the cost of the tranny or would it still be warranty, maybe?

Give Jason a call at Northway to see what he could do on costs, they are a good group. Treating me very nice with my 99 V92C stuff. I can testify that they stand behind their work, my KP primary leaks, letting me deal with my scratched tank at the painter, etc a good example. No costs, no hassle, just takes a bit of time.

You know how I hate to be without my ride but sometimes you just have to get the guts fixed. While I am at it I am installing the 106 stroker kit. Now I think I should get a vanity plate. I know every body helped Al with his handle so how bout some help with my plate. I was thinking something like STROKR,or STRKIN, or SKIDN or 05HMR or whatever. You can see I need help.

I personally like SIDHMR.

I also think the DMV will have a problem with STROKN, or STROKR, so you may want to bypass those options.

My suggestion would be SIDSTR (combo of Sid and Stroker). Or even BLKSTR (Black Stroker).

Hey fearless leader, how about a poll???:action35:

Great things come from small problems -- good for you Sid -- you will be hard to keep up to now.:biker83:

How about HUGECC or FASTBL or FSTBLK or 06 106:clap:

I was at Warner's today and paid a visit to Sid's ailing Hammer.

It looks pretty sad sitting on the bench with basically a pair of wheels and a rear fender...

Maybe for now it should be SIKHMR :D
