I busted the sidestand spring yesterday when putting my Vegas on the lift. Luckily I had a spare OEM spring (I broke one off 2 years ago on a nasty pothole). I spent about an hour trying to get the spring into the stand hole with a vice grips and finally gave up for the night in frustration. I could stretch it where the spring end was touching the inside of the stand hole, but couldn't get it slipped in. Grrrrr!!!

When I did it a couple years ago, I was using a hardware store spring that was a little less robust. It was easier to install but obviously only held up for 2 years of my abuse.

Anyone have any tips on what should be a simple install?

Try this.
Remove the sidestand from the bike.
Attach the spring to the sidestand and the bike.
Work the sidestand onto the mount on the cradle.
Install bolt.

I like the easy way. I'll try it out. Thanks Greg & Rob.

Might be a few minutes late to Renegades, but I'll be there... hopefully without a baby-bungee holding up the friggin sidestand.
