Is there an ODB-II connector on our favorite brand of bikes?
If so, anyone (else) with an iPhone or someone who can borrow their spouse's iTouch (Heidi's Husband) might be interested in this neat little tech gadget...

The downside is that you have to purchase a OBD-II wireless hardware device that will communicate with you iPhone via WiFi.
The lite version is currently available for free, but DevToaster will release a full version when the hardware becomes available.
Rick is that saying that the hardware is not available yet?
I think its the same connector, but I'm pretty sure it isn't OBD-II protocol for the data (Rob?).
If it could be done, I probably would have done it already. I have the AutoXray 6000 scanner, which does OBD-II (and most domestic from the mid 80's until OBD-II went into effect), and haven't tried it.

Johnny,
ODB-II is the connector and type of data that is used on all cars to talk to the car's computer. It sends all the data like RPM, airflow, etc...to whatever device you hook up to the ODB-II. It also sends things like diagnostic codes for troubleshooting purposes. If you've ever had your "check engine" light come on, then it was probably reset by a mechanic via the ODB-II.
From what I read (and the way I read it), the US DOT specified that ALL VEHICLES (not just cars) were to have the ODB-II. I guess it never said that it had to be fully functional.
Sparks - the hardware is out there from existing ODB-II to WiFi vendors. My interpretation of the statement: DevToaster is that they are trying to work out some sort of bundle with the software and the ODB-II WiFi reader, via the iStore. So 2 items there: 1.) partnering with the hardware mfgr and all the details that it involves, and 2.) the iStore doesn't exactly lend it's self to physical fulfillment of purchases - though they's made some progress. Still, DevToaster is a very small company, so things like those take time for a guy in the basement of his mother's house. :Hehe:
BTW - the iPhone is supposed to have an upgrade in the next couple days that enables Stereo Bluetooth so you can listen to your music wirelessly. I used to do that on my old phone and 'twas really nice.
